New Events of Scholars Committee, for the newest batch

Angel and Mortal

Time: Every three months

Purpose: To enhance relationship among scholars

Details: Every three months, the committee will pick a day where we write down all the scholars’ names respectively on small papers. After that, the papers will be put into a box and each scholars take a paper randomly. The person who takes the paper is the angel to the specific person whose name is on the paper. The person whose name is on the paper is the mortal to the person who gets his/her name. The “Angel” will have to give encouraging cards/presents etc. (depends on the angel) to his/her “Mortal” secretly, without letting the ‘Mortal’ knows who the ‘Angel” is. The ‘Mortal’ will only know the ‘Angel’ at the next time when all scholars change their ‘Mortal’.

TMS Juniors' Orientation

Time: Jan (When everyone is in Singapore)

Purpose：For juniors and seniors to know each other better and share their experiences.

              To help the juniors to adapt to the Singapore lifestyle as soon as possible.

Details: When the juniors come to Singapore, they are not familiar to this new country, they might have a lot of question about how to get used to living in Singapore. As seniors we can try our best to answer the questions they asked, and share about the problem or difficulties they will meet here and tell them the solutions of give them encouragement. Both the seniors and juniors can also take this opportunity to know each other better and to live as one big family. The committee will make it a day where we will bring them around Singapore or make it a day where we hold some activities and to have time for everybody to come together to strengthen our bonds.

Outing Day

Time: During March Holiday or September holiday.

Purpose:  Have fun and relax ourselves from hectic schedules.

 To communicate with people we are not so familiar with.

Detail: We shall go to interesting places in Singapore, such as Singapore Zoo, Wild Wild Wet, Sentosa, Science Centre. The place will be decided when the time comes.

TMS Scholars’ Gathering

Time: June/November (When most of us are free from exams and most of us are in Singapore.)

Purpose: To let ALL scholars from TMS come together.

                   To let ALL TMS scholars know each other and exchange experiences.

                   To let ALL TMS scholars have fun together.

Detail: This gathering is for ALL scholars as long as they are from Temasek Secondary School despite which batch or nationality they are from. The committee will plan exciting activities for everyone for that day and meal(s) will be provided depending on the time of the gathering. The scholars from any batch will come together to exchange their experiences and their life. Besides, the seniors can know how the juniors are doing and of course, it is like a gathering for the seniors themselves as we believe some of them might not have met each other anymore after they leave TMS to pursue their own dreams. Therefore, this is also a good opportunity for the scholars of the same batch to catch up with each others’ life and recall back their happiness during their primary schooldays.

This is from the Junior's discussions up to now. These are the new things for the year ahead. So we will have these new events plus the same traditions that we have last year.  :) if u need anything u can SMS me later

New Reforms in Scholars Committee

Hi, com i would just like to say some new things that i have thought of and some announcements

Mr. Oh would like us to come up with a new schedule of events for him that will be organized by the committee for the year ahead. We should repeat the events that we have last year and maybe introduce a new tradition if we want to. I will have a separate meeting for ALL SCHOLARS COMMITTEE MEMBERS INCLUDING THE JUNIORS to discuss about it.

I would also like the new committee to start writing REPORTS after every MEETING and EVENT. This would allow us and the teachers  to keep track of them during selection time and after the new committee is formed. It will also be useful when the next next committee comes in, as they will be able to see what their seniors did.

As we have only two positions on the scholars committee which is the chairperson and members and so i would like to give a new role in the com. I would like to introduce a new position- The SECRETARY

The secretary would be the person to record down all planning and decisions made by the committee in EVERY meeting, this will allow Mr. Oh to keep track of the committee and their plan. Also the committee could also use it as reference for themselves to recall their plans or discussions.

Last, i need the money from ALL PRC scholars to put into the scholars fund. I have all aseans already but i am still missing the PRC scholars, please pass it to me in the next meeting.

OK so this is all i can think of to say right now. if i have more things to say i will post onto the blog or tell u guys personally.

ok about mr. oh's movie day is coming up, the movies that we would watch are Megamind which will be out on the 4th of november. The location i think would be very suitable at marina square as usual. The first group would be going this friday and the second group's date would have to be confirmed as we would have to see when Mr. Oh is availible. We would have to split the sec 3s into two groups in which i will tell you how to do so WHICH YOU WOULD HAVE TO DO SO BY TONIGHT!!! it wouldn't take u that long and it would help me ALOT if you do so and by the way you are really free during this time :)

Wu Bai - Split all secondary 3 PRC boys into two groups of almost the equal number
Paulina - Split all secondary 3 Asean girls into two groups of almost the same number
Xiao Wen and Xiao Yu - Split all secondary 3 PRC girls into 2 groups of almost the same number

ok good news Mrs. Ang will be finding teachers for our groups so TMR AFTERSCHOOL she wants the list of all of the groups of scholars with 1 local and 1 foreigner so to make things easy i will put some of u guys in charge of the groups.

Paulina - sorry yours alot of groups but u can just ask ur roommates and janice is almost done

D - Lefan, Junxu, Janice... which i think Janice almost have all group members already just tell me the confirmed one
H - Minh, Yifei, Suecern

update on mrs ong farewell things

ok so then me and paulina we will do the sec 3 aseans gift for mrs ong while xiao yu xiao wen and wu bai would be in charge of the PRCs and do a seperate gift for mrs ong in this way it is more managable and easier :)

Ok this is to correct the misconception the SCHOLARS COMMITTEE would be doing for sec 3s and the seniors would settle the sec 4s. Mr Oh said maybe we just do a simple card would be fine. I would tell you guys what to do later after i discuss this with some of you. Note that the deadline is Sunday.

I made some slight changes so that it would kind of suit the criteria that they give us since some of the groups did not fit the criteria of type of scholars or the gender. I know some people will not be happy with it but then u guys must tell them that this is an opportunity to know more people and make friends and to interact with other people and that they did not select the groups by themselves and it is not our fault.

The groups would also have to find their own foreign student, teacher and singaporean friend to come. PLEASE NOTE BOWLING IS PLAYED WITH MAXIMUM OF 6 PPL so i don't want to see a group of 7 or more.

Me and Xiao wen with be in one group cause there is not enough scholars for us so we would have to find 2 singaporeans

Please inform everyone their groups and tell them to find their foreign student, singaporean friends and teachers by tomorrow evening :)
